London Mozart Players Chief Executive Flynn Le Brocq to leave role

Surprising news from the London Mozart Players this morning: Chief Executive Flynn Le Brocq is to leave his role for a new post at Uppingham School as Director of Admissions.

The announcement comes after a turnaround at LMP overseen by Le Brocq, who has embodied the orchestra’s personality and helped give it a modern-day feel. Participating in the London Borough of Culture has strengthened the orchestra’s name in Croydon, amplifying its south London identity. Under his leadership, LMP has built on its core repertoire programming with community-driven initiatives that project a fresh, inclusive image for the ensemble.

But more than the achievements, there’s a sense of sadness whenever someone well-liked announces a surprise departure. Le Brocq is an expert relationship builder—generous-spirited, energetic, and genuinely engaged with his audience. Not all Chief Executives engage as authentically or consistently as Le Brocq. Like Julia Desbruslais MBE before him, he succeeded in making the orchestra feel welcoming, building connections that resonated long after the applause.

Assuming the role in 2021, his departure only four years later suggests someone with vision and ambition. There is surely hope that at some point, Le Brocq will return in some capacity this sector needs that kind of energy more than ever. His combination of knowledge, enthusiasm and ability is rare.
